Liberal candidate Scott Yung in hot water for giving Easter eggs to public outside school
Scott Yung, the party’s candidate for Bennelong, and Liberal campaign workers handed out the Easter goodies to students on Wednesday in front of the Lane Cove public school, triggering a complaint from its principal.
The NSW Department of Education said the principal had officially raised concerns with Liberal Party headquarters.
“It is unacceptable for any member of the public to hand out Easter Eggs, lollies or any other consumable to children outside a school,” a spokesperson for the department said.
They added the department was monitoring the matter.
The Liberal Party has been contacted by 9news.com.au for comment.
Bennelong is regarded as a key seat for the Coalition if it wants to secure power at next month’s federal election.
Currently held by Labor’s Jerome Laxale, it is already notionally a Liberal seat after redistribution.
Once the electoral home of former prime minister John Howard, this is only the second term in the seat’s history that it’s been held by Labor.
