State-by-state guide to the weather forecast across Australia for Anzac Day

Millions of Australians may need to switch up their long weekend plans as the east coast prepares for an Anzac Day deluge.
A cool change is sweeping across New South Wales and Victoria this week and a low pressure system is forecast to bring a rainy washout from now until Sunday.

While some capital cities will enjoy some pleasantly warm temperatures for late April, dark clouds threaten to cast a gloomy shadow over the three-day weekend.

Northern NSW will likely be hit with the bulk of the gloomy weather with a deluge smashing towns across the coast including Lismore and Yamba with 25-50mm of rain on Friday.

Melbourne is in for a similarly rainy weekend and the worst of the deluge is expected to hit on Friday with up to 25mm of rain lashing the city on Anzac Day, with a small chance of showers on Saturday and Sunday.

Temperatures are set to dip to 19 degrees in Melbourne on Saturday after a warmer end to the week.

Parts of western Victoria will see between 10 and 25mm on Friday, with conditions easing by Saturday.
