Dutton seeks to defy polls; Albanese heads to Brisbane; Both leaders enter final days of campaigning

If Labor is re-elected on May 3, Anthony Albanese will be the first prime minister since John Howard to score a second consecutive term.

The PM described it as a “challenge” while chatting to B105 radio in Brisbane earlier this morning during his campaign stop in Queensland’s capital – also his political rival Peter Dutton’s hometown.

“I think we are seeing a bit of that around the world,” Albanese said of his strive to remain optimistic.

“And one of the challenges of being a leader in 2025 is being optimistic and trying to present a vision about opportunities, not just challenges.”

When asked about Dutton, Albanese said the opposition leader is a “deeply conservative man who has different values to him”.
