Spilt Milk to return to Ballarat, Perth, Canberra, Gold Coast in December after shock cancellation last year

The organisers of one of Australia’s biggest touring day festivals have confirmed the music festival will return this summer after they were forced to cancel last year’s event.

Spilt Milk will take place in Ballarat on December 6, Perth on December 7, Canberra on December 13 and Gold Coast on December 14.

A lineup has not been confirmed yet, but it is expected to drop soon.

Organisers cancelled the event last year because they “couldn’t get you the Spilt Milk you deserve” and promised to “come back when I can make all your dreams come true”.

Spilt Milk joined the growing list of music festivals that were called off due to industry challenges, often just days or weeks before the event was scheduled.

The pandemic, inflation and the cost of living crisis have been blamed for creating harsh economic pressures for festival organisers.

It has led to lower ticket sales and higher supply chain costs.

Bluesfest, which previously announced that this year’s event will be its very last, has confirmed it is also returning next year.

Souled Out music festival cancelled more than a week before event due to 'ongoing challenges'

So far this year, Good Life, A Festival Called Panama, Esoteric, Souled Out, Groovin the Moo and Forth Valley Blues have been forced to axe their events.

“Despite our best efforts, the event did not reach the level of support needed to remain financially viable,” Souled Out organisers said.

“These challenges have made it unfeasible to deliver the world-class lineup and experience that Australian teens have come to expect,” Good Life organisers said.
