Car flips in a dramatic end to a police chase in Broadmeadows
A 51-year-old Coburg man is under police guard in hospital following a wild police chase in Melbourne’s north.
Police were led on a chase after spotting a blue Toyota Corolla driving erratically on Wood St in Preston about 4.15am on Sunday morning.
The driver fled to Broadmeadows with officers in tow, when it collided with an unmarked police car near Widford St.
The vehicle took off again, but came to a dramatic halt a short time later at the intersection of Widford St and Camp Rd, where it was involved in a larger crash with a civilian vehicle.
The Corolla flipped and landed on its side, injuring the driver who was arrested and is now under police guard in hospital.
No charges have been laid.
No one in the other vehicle was injured.
Emergency services could be seen at the dramatic scene on Sunday morning, where glass from the car’s smashed windows was scattered across the intersection.
