The lawyer for prominent Jeffrey Epstein and Prince Andrew accuser Virginia Giuffre has sensationally cast doubt on claims the sexual assault and trafficking survivor took her own life. Perth-based barrister Karrie Louden, who has acted as Ms Giuffre’s legal representative since the start of the year, said there was no indication of suicide in the lead-up to her passing. A handwritten letter by Tyrone Thompson was handed to Justice Richard Weinstein in Newcastle Supreme Court on Tuesday expressing his remorse over the murder of 21-year-old Mackenzie Anderson. Justice Weinstein said he was happy to receive the letter because this was the first time he had seen any remorse from Thompson. The judge said it appeared Thompson, who stabbed Anderson 78 times with two kitchen knives over two minutes, had a longstanding diagnosis of schizoaffective disorder, a mental illness characterised by both schizophrenia and a mood disorder. Eleven hikers winched to safety after Morton National Park ordeal
Teen hikers were among a group of 11 rescued after spending a cold and uncomfortable night in the bush, trapped by heavy rain, thick fog, and treacherous conditions. Emergency services launched a multi-agency operation after an emergency beacon was activated about 9.40am last Wednesday at Flying Fox Gully, about 28km north-west of Ulladulla. Police have released footage of a dramatic rescue operation after a group of hikers became stranded in a NSW national park. A party of 11 people, including eight teenagers, was hiking in the Morton National Park, north-west of Ulladulla, when they became disoriented by heavy fog last Wednesday. Body discovered on boat moored on Perth Swan River
An investigation has been launched after a man’s body was discovered on a boat moored on the Swan River in Perth’s south. Police were called to a boat at Blackwell Reach in Bicton about 4.15pm on April 24 where they found the body of a 51-year old man. “Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of the man,” a police spokesman said.
