A chilling audio message with the sounds of gunshots ringing out has been sent to the phone of LNP Leichhardt candidate Jeremy Neal. The unverified five-minute message, heard by NewsWire, features multiple loud gunshots. A loud gunshot is heard, and then a smaller echo rings out. The sound of gunfire continues for the remainder of the message. No words are spoken. Queensland Police has been contacted for comment. An investigation is under way after a federal election candidate in Queensland said he received a threatening audio message of gunshots. LNP candidate for Leichhardt Jeremy Neal said he was campaigning late last week when he checked his phone and saw the message. Man charged over 140kg of cocaine hidden in marine engines

A police sting has led to a man being charged over his alleged role in importing 140kg of cocaine by concealing the bricks in marine engines. Australian Border Force found a huge stash of plastic-wrapped blocks inside two wooden crates of marine engines that arrived in Brisbane from California in the US in October last year. The blocks tested positive for cocaine, and the Australian Federal Police took over the incident. A handwritten letter by Tyrone Thompson was handed to Justice Richard Weinstein in Newcastle Supreme Court on Tuesday expressing his remorse over the murder of 21-year-old Mackenzie Anderson.
