Anthony Eriksen pleads not guilty to Lisa Fenwick’s murder

A trial for a man who allegedly stabbed his partner 13 times inside their Sydney unit more than two years ago is expected to kick off next week after lengthy delays in court.

Anthony “Tony” Eriksen, 63, was arrested after his partner Lisa Fenwick was found stabbed to death inside their Mascot apartment on April 9 in 2023.

Mr Eriksen was charged with the murder of his partner of 13 years, pleading not guilty in November 2024.

Mr Eriksen appeared via AVL in the Supreme Court Sydney on Monday from Kempsey Corrections Centre, sporting prison greens and long grey hair.

Mr Eriksen parted ways with his legal team at the end of last year and is instead expected to represent himself at trial, the court was told on Monday.

Justice Andrew Coleman told the court they will attempt to deal with a few pre-trial issues without causing any delay to the trial.

However, Mr Eriksen appeared emotionless and responded that he “did not mind” if there was a delay in his trial dates.

Justice Coleman reminded Mr Eriksen that it was “in his best interests” for the trial to get underway given he’s already spent a “lengthy period” in custody on remand.

Police allege Ms Fenwick was found inside the couple’s Church Ave unit block just after 6pm on the day of the incident, suffering from 13 stab wounds – 12 to her chest and one to her right arm – and died at the scene.

Mr Eriksen will return to the Supreme Court Sydney next Monday.
