More than half of adults aged over 45 never wear second-hand items – unwilling to wear ‘someone else’s clothes’. A poll of 2,000 adults found there’s a perception among this age group that used garments are ‘unhygienic’, ‘tend to be faded’, and are of ‘poor quality’. The King George VI Victorian suite and the Belgian sapphire tiara are the third and fourth most expensive pieces of sapphire jewellery in the Royal Family, both estimated to be worth £5million each according to jewellery experts at Steven Stone.  The experts took a closer look at the original necklace and said it features 18 sapphires, sat on a gradient, ranging from eight to 30-carats, before it was redesigned in 1952.
