Greens leader Adam Bandt trolled in awkward video at polling booth

Greens leader Adam Bandt suffered an embarrassing interaction with a volunteer from a rival campaign at a polling booth in Melbourne.

The left-wing politician was filmed by a man who had duped him into thinking they were recording a birthday message for a woman named Zoe.

“I’m Zac and this is Adam,” the man said while taking a selfie-style video.

“Hey Zoe, happy birthday Zoe!” Mr Bandt replied.

The politician’s beam quickly disappeared when the man invited him to “say it together” and the ruse was revealed.

As Mr Bandt began to say “happy birthday”, the man chimed in: “I have demonised the Jewish community for my own political gain.”

Greens leader caught by troll

Mr Bandt’s face fell and he quickly walked away as the man chuckled to himself.

The Greens have been accused of spreading misinformation about the war in Gaza and of condoning attacks on the Jewish community.

In an appearance on the ABC’s Q&A program just days after the devastating October 7 Hamas terrorist attacks in 2023, Mr Bandt was confronted by a Jewish man.

He pushed the Greens leader on how he could support pro-Palestine protesters who openly called for the destruction of Israel.

Meanwhile, Greens deputy leader Senator Mehreen Faruqi repeatedly refused to condemn Hamas.

Former Victorian MP Philip Dalidakis shared the video to X and declared: “I don’t know who Zac is but I want to buy him a beer.”
