Labor leads the polls days out from election day, Trump dodging PM’s call, Albanese heads back to Canberra
US President Donald Trump has confirmed PM Anthony Albanese has been trying to call him – but he hasn’t answered yet.
When asked by 9News if he would speak to the Australian prime minister regarding trade, Trump said he is aware the Australian government has been making phone calls.
“They are calling, and I will be talking to him, yes,” Trump said.
Trump made the remarks as he left the White House in Washington DC before heading for Michigan to hold a rally to celebrate his first 100 days in office.
Albanese has been under pressure over his contact with the president during the campaign trail after Trump delivered a tariff blow to Australia.
