Jury empanelled for triple murder trial of accused mushroom cook

The people who will decide the fate of alleged poisonous mushroom cook Erin Patterson have been chosen for her trial. Patterson, 50, has pleaded not guilty to three charges of murder and one of attempted murder, and has always maintained her innocence. Her Supreme Court trial is to be held in the town of Morwell, about 150km south-east of Melbourne. Erin Patterson is accused of killing three people and the attempted murder of a fourth. Iran repelled a large cyberattack on its infrastructure on Sunday, said the head of its Infrastructure Communications Company, a day after a powerful explosion damaged its most important container port and another round of talks with the US over Tehran’s nuclear programme. “One of the most widespread and complex cyberattacks against the country’s infrastructure was identified and preventive measures were taken,” Behzad Akbari said, according to semi-official Tasnim news agency, without giving more detail. Chinese artificial intelligence service DeepSeek became available again on South Korean app markets this week for the first time in about two months, when downloads were suspended after authorities cited breaches in data protection rules.
