Woman arrested after two children found dead at home in Blue Mountains

A mother has been arrested after two children were found dead at a home in NSW’s Blue Mountains.

The father of two boys, aged nine and 11, discovered their bodies at the home in Faulconbridge shortly before 12.40pm.

The boys’ mother, 42, was found with several injuries which police believe were self-inflicted.

The woman, who lives at the home, was transported to Westmead Hospital under police guard in a stable condition.

She has since been arrested.

No weapon has been identified yet and police declined to comment on the nature of the children’s deaths.

NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb called the incident “tragic”.

“The older and more experienced you get in this job, things like this still cut to the core,” she said.

Police are not looking for anyone else and there is no ongoing threat to the community.

The family were only known to police for very minor issues, Superintendent John Nelson said.

“It’s early stages, but what we can say (is) there are no indications of any history with us in relation to this matter,” he said.

Homicide detectives are investigating the circumstances of the deaths.

Anyone with information in relation to the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
