Woolworths Group finds new CDTO

Woolworths Group has appointed Angelo Clayton as its new chief digital and technology officer, following the departure of James Wilson at the start of the year.

Clayton announced his move in a LinkedIn post; he has been with the group for over seven-and-a-half years, most recently as its technology director for stores and information management.

“For the past seven years, I’ve had the pleasure of partnering with a talented team, innovative partners, and engaged business stakeholders to transform customer and team experiences across Woolworths Supermarkets, Big W and Woolworths New Zealand stores,” Clayton wrote.

“It has been an exciting journey as together, we have leveraged technology to unlock the connected customer and team experience in our stores.”

For his new role as CDTO, he added: “I’m excited to continue focusing on delivering exceptional value to our customers and making life simpler for our team through innovative digital solutions.”

The retailer’s last CDTO, James Wilson, left in January to take up the role of CTO at Buildkite, which makes continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) tooling.

A Woolworths spokesperson confirmed Clayton’s appointment but could not comment further.

Woolworths appears to now be actively recruiting for a replacement to fill Clayton’s prior technology director role.
