Labor MPs represent half of least affordable electorates in Australia

A single person looking for work or a disabled Australian needs a miracle to find and get into an affordable rental in most capital city suburbs, a leading social support service has found. The latest analysis from Anglicare Australia shows Anthony Albanese’s electorate is among the top-20 least affordable in the country for someone on minimum wage or support payments. New autopsy confirms he died from heart disease, notes his Alzheimer’s and prolonged fasting

The main cause of Gene Hackman’s death was heart disease, but he was also in the advanced stages of Alzheimer’s disease and likely had not eaten for a long time, according to a new autopsy report. The report documents the 95-year-old actor’s poor heart health, noting he had experienced congestive heart failure, an aortic valve replacement and an irregular heartbeat. Permanent residents in Australia who use their overseas licence on Aussie roads may soon face harsh penalties, as a major change could mean they are driving illegally within days. Many international citizens will need to resit a drivers exam to be officially licensed on Australian roads, as their experienced driver recognition status is phased out. Child scratches abstract painting worth $88 million

A huge painting by Latvian American abstract painter Mark Rothko, thought to be worth tens of millions of dollars, has been removed from display in a Dutch museum after it was damaged by a visiting child. Conservators will now have to repair the artwork, Grey, Orange on Maroon, No. 8, after it was “scratched” by a child visiting the Rotterdam gallery where it was on display. Coalition spruiks easier debt as housing crisis fix

Dropping the serviceability buffer on home loans is the key to getting hundreds of thousands of young Australians on the property ladder, the Coalition says. The buffer, set by the financial services watchdog to make sure borrowers can pay their debts, is added on top of a loan’s interest rate and must be considered by lenders before approving a mortgage.
