Two women struck by lightning in soggy start to Anzac Day for south-east Queensland

Two women are recovering in hospital this morning after they were struck by lightning in separate incidents in south-east Queenslandovernight. One woman was struck at Yandina on the Sunshine Coast and another at Burpengary as the region was hit with thunderstorms and intense rainfall overnight and into this morning. West Woombye on the Sunshine Coast recorded 151mm in just three hours overnight. The rain radar over south-east Queensland at 10am on Friday. (Bureau of Meteorology) Nearby Nambour recorded 136 mm. This year’s Anzac Day falls 50 years after Australian air force crews took part in a perilous rescue mission of thousands of young orphans from a conflict zone. E-bike blaze leaves woman without her home and most of her possessions

An Adelaide woman has been left without her home and most of her possessions after escaping a devastating fire, believed to have been caused by a faulty e-bike charger, with only her pet dog.  The blaze, which erupted at about 9.20am, caused an estimated $350,000 worth of damage. South-west Sydney aged care worker charged with sexually assaulting elderly residents

An aged care worker has been charged with sexually assaulting residents in a south-west Sydney facility. The 46-year-old woman is accused of assaulting seven elderly residents at the Macarthur region aged care home where she worked. As part of an investigation, detectives seized her phone, which allegedly contained videos taken at the facility depicting sexual abuse, which had also been sent to her partner, a 54-year-old man.
