‘Bizarre’: Mystery as stranger repeatedly caught swimming in family pool
A Queensland family are in disbelief after a stranger allegedly snuck into their home half a dozen times and used their swimming pool without permission. Homeowner Holly Stevens said the unknown man had repeatedly snuck into the property in New Farm in northern Brisbane to take a dip at least five times since January. Labelling the move as “entitled”, Ms Stevens told 9News she’s “come to the conclusion he’s obviously scoping out the property” while no one was home before taking a dip. The man, who could be seen on CCTV cameras checking out the home, would take off his ... Read more
Peter Dutton says Welcome to Country ceremonies are ‘overdone’ in final leaders’ debate
Peter Dutton has proposed Welcome to Country ceremonies be relegated to “major events” only, claiming that acknowledgments of the traditional owners of the land have gone too far. With just five days to convince Australians to vote for them in Saturday’s election, the Liberal leader and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese squared off in their final debate of the campaign on Sunday night. The showdown, moderated by Seven’s political editor Mark Riley, took place amid a culture war over the necessity of the ceremonies, reignited after a group of hecklers – including known neo-Nazis – booed the Welcome to Country at ... Peter Dutton left the audience of the final leaders’ debate gobsmacked when he could not answer how much a dozen eggs cost. Election 2025: Dutton’s telling blow up in final leaders’ debate
The final debate of the election campaign was certainly feistier than the first three. There were multiple moments of frustration, bordering on outright anger, between the two leaders. Part of that, presumably, can be ascribed to the Coalition’s fading prospects of victory next Saturday, should the polls prove to be accurate. A Newspoll released shortly before the debate showed no movement whatsoever. And when you’re chasing, movement is what you need. So with that in mind, it is hardly surprising that Peter Dutton was usually the instigator during the debate, and repeatedly accused Anthony Albanese of being dishonest in quite ... Read more
