Anti-nuclear protesters have derailed Peter Dutton’s announcement of funding to upgrade a sport field in Sanctuary Point, in the seat Gilmore. The Opposition Leaders was joined at Francis Ryan Sports Field, home of local football club the St George Basin Dragons, with a group of young players to announce the upgrade. Two men dead, third fighting for life

Two young men have died and another is fighting for life after a crash between a truck and a car in south-west Sydney late yesterday. Emergency services were called to King Georges Road at Wiley Park about 8.45pm where three men were found trapped inside a BMW sedan. Two of those, aged 22 and 23, died at the scene, while the 20-year-old driver suffered significant injuries and was taken to hospital in critical condition. Former Virgin Australia boss Jayne Hrdlicka has announced she will be the new chief executive of liquor, gaming and pubs retailer Endeavour Group at the start of next year. Ms Hrdlicka stepped down from Virgin Australia earlier this year, after a near four-year stint in the job. During her time she helped navigate the airline – owned by Bain Capital following its collapse during the Covid-19 pandemic – into a major deal with Qatar airways. Bapcor cuts size of ERP estate from 42 to 19 systems

Bapcor, home to automotive brands such as Autobarn and Midas, is cutting dozens of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems from its technology estate. CEO and executive chair Angus McKay told a strategy briefing yesterday that the company had “eliminated or consolidated from 42 ERPs down to 19” at the end of fiscal year 2024. German police have launched a murder investigation after a bestselling novelist was found dead on her houseboat in Hamburg. Alexandra Fröhlich was discovered dead by relatives onboard her houseboat in the Moorfleet district of the German city, according to a statement that Hamburg Police shared with CNN. “After a 58-year-old woman was found dead on her houseboat in Hamburg’s Moorfleet district on Tuesday morning, the police and public prosecutor’s office are now assuming a homicide and are asking for information from the public,” the statement said. Telco monitoring impact of outage on email services

Telstra said today it is continuing to monitor an outage that impacted thousands of customers. Problems began about 2 pm AEST yesterday when the telco’s Bigpond and Webmail services struck problems around email logins and some apps. Early today, Telstra said on social media that Telstra Mail was back up and running, but some customers using a third-party app may continue to experience troubles. University of the Sunshine Coast puts Azure at core of transformation program

The University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC) is launching a major digital transformation initiative beginning with a large-scale migration to Microsoft Azure. The Queensland-based university plans to start moving its core infrastructure workloads out of two on-premises data centres by the second half of 2025.
