NSW residents are likely to get a reprieve this week from the wild weather that blasted through the state on the long weekend. The small town of Mandalong scored a huge 154mm in the 24 hours to 9am on Monday, followed by nearby Lake Macquarie with 135mm and Windale on 139mm. Newcastle recorded 102mm within the same period, on top of the 42mm of rain it copped in the previous 24 hours. A person has been killed in a horror collision between a truck and a car on a major Queensland highway. The two vehicles collided on the Bruce Highway near Emmett Creek – about 30 minutes south of Townsville – just before 2pm on Sunday. The driver of the MG car was alone in the vehicle and died at the scene. The truck driver was not physically injured. A Queensland family are in disbelief after a stranger allegedly snuck into their home half a dozen times and used their swimming pool without permission. Homeowner Holly Stevens said the unknown man had repeatedly snuck into the property in New Farm in northern Brisbane to take a dip at least five times since January. The final debate of the election campaign was certainly feistier than the first three. There were multiple moments of frustration, bordering on outright anger, between the two leaders.
